Br. Art Hortze - February 2010Brother Arthur Hortze was born on the 16th of July in Newark, New Jersey. He attended BOTH Long Beach Polytechnic and Van Nuys High Schools. ART was a member of the United States Marine Corps prior to his pledging. Brother Art Hortze was initiated into the Phi Delta Psi Fraternity in the Fall of 1959 at Los Angeles Valley College

In 2010 "Uncle Artie", as he is affectionately called by his Fraternity Brothers, related to our Brotherhood that he is struggling with cancer. With the help of our little sister Rosalyn Stern and her family, Art has moved from Montana to Las Vegas to be closer to medical care.
This photograph of Art, with Br. Gary Fredburg in the background, was taken at Br. Paul Queyrel's Super Bowl Party.

Br. LEROY HUNT at the Barone's Lunch

LeRoy Hunt (click on image to enlarge)
Brother LeRoy Hunt drove from Santa Barbara to join his Brothers at their monthly lunch at Barone's Pizza. LeRoy was initiated into our Brotherhood in the Fall of 1959. He became an important leader of our Pierce College Beta Chapter and has remained loyal over his lifetime. After graduation, he entered his family's china business in Santa Barbara and Vetura.
LeRoy's most recent adventure was an evacuation from the Santa Barbara wildfire. He and his wife Sherry Dennis Hunt lost their home in the previous Santa Barbara fire.

SURPRISE! IT'S Br. HANK GARFIELD
We had just about finished our Phi Delt 13th Hour lunch at Barone's Pizza Restaurant, when Tom Montelone leaned around a wooden pillar and announced, "I've got a Phi Delt surprise for you guys!" Then appeared Br. Hank Garfiled, whom most of us hadn't seen in years and years. I didn't recognize him until he spoke. His voice hasn't changed an iota.
Br. Garfield was initiated into our Fraternity in the Fall of 1959. He was among the first initiates in the Oxnard House.
Hank spends his retirement years inventing things useful to the film and television industry. He was one of the four Brothers who formed the Phi Delt Barber Shop Quartet (Craig Pinkard, Mike Padden and Jerry Cipperly).

Tommy Monteleone is the proprietor of Barone's Italian Restaurant, where we will be having our last Thursday of the month lunches. He was a Sig Delt at Valley College, and graduated from Notre Dame High School, I believe in Al Aquino's class.
