JULY PHI DELT LUNCH HAS GREAT TURNOUT

When word got out that Brother Scotty Motto would be at our July Phi Delta Psi lunch at Baroni's Pizza in Valley Village, we got a great turnout. Attending were; Tom Montes (Beta), Rod Davis (Alpha), Jerry Fecht (Alpha), Dale Alexander (Alpha), Clem Boyland (Beta) Lee Preisler (Beta), Pete Ruiz (Alpha), Steve Falk (Founder), Grady Talbot (Founder), Jim Reeves (Beta), Joe Palazzola (Beta), Bob Malone (Beta), Arnold Levy (Alpha), Gary Fredburg (Alpha), Phil Gatch (Beta), Scott Motto (Beta), Jerry Berns (Beta), Robb Miller (Beta), and John Witmsatt.
The ghost of Founder Don Taggart appeared several times and attempted to disrupt the lunch, but failed.
Some talk about a reunion - maybe at the Chumash Casino resort near Santa Inez in Santa Barbara County - golf for McAlevey and Olson, gambling for the rich and less active, a tour of the wine country or a 12 step meeting - or both, the old mission Santa Inez (at our ages, not a bad idea), bike paths and nearby Solvang.  If it's too expensive we'll shine it on.

Br. DAVID BALL

We are beginning to catch up on the history of Br. Dave Ball. Here's what I have about Dave
in our Maple Leaf Society notes:
Br. Dave Balle was born in Los Angeles in 1940. He attended James Francis Polytechnic High School in North Hollywood, and was initiated into the Brotherhood of Phi Delta Psi Alpha Chapter in the Fall of 1960. He spent his business career selling and producing vitamin and food supplements.

Dave and his wife Marlene live in Rancho Cucamonga, California.
Can't you just imagine Br. Art Hortze giving Dave his pledge name "germ".

ALPHA BASEBALL TEAM 1964

How about helping to identify these Alpha Chapter Brothers in this 1964 photograph - courtesy of Brother Ron Lutz.   (click on image to enlarge)
Br. Paul Craig in Bend, Oregon responds as follows

1st row - left to right - ?, Dave Gilbreath, Tom Ny, Paul Craig
2nd row - Steve Weiss, Rich Ennis, Perry Paul, Bob Magdaleno, Vic Salerno
top row - Ken Smith, Jim Littrell, Coach Sam Epstein, Dave O'Doul

Bro. Paul Craig notes "Sam Epstein was the father of Syd Epstein who was a Little Sister of the Phi Delts.  Somehow, he got roped into being the Coach/Advisor for our softball team.  ...  I went to high school with Syd at Grant and have remained in touch with her over the years and she remains as beautiful as she was back then.  Recently she told me that her Dad has the fondest memories of the Phi Delts and mentions his time with us frequently."

We have no up to date information on:
Perry Paul   who may be living in Encino

Jerry Fecht has a record of a "Lee" Epstein Fall 1963
but nothing more.   The same is true for Dave O'Doul
or:  James Oliver Littrell
