Br. SCOTT MOTTO

-->
Scott Motto at the July 2013 Phi Delt lunch.

Brother Francis Motto was born on the 22nd of March. He graduated from North Hollywood High School. Called "Scott," he was initiated into the Phi Delta Psi Fraternity in the Spring of 1961. After he completed Pierce College, Scott joined the United States Navy.
After the great Northridge earthquake of 1993, Scott and his wife Barbara decided to move to Dubuque, Iowa, where she was from.  The Mottos have two children.
Scott enjoyed a thirty-year career in institutional investments with Bank of America until his early retirement.
In 1994, Scott volunteered to do lighting for the local Grand Opera House . He became the Technical Director and has been involved ever since. During his eleven years as a volunteer, he has been fortunate enough to see significant upgrades to the technical capabilities of the theater. These included entirely new lighting and sound systems, both of which continue to be upgraded for the benefit of our audiences. He is looking forward to opening up the fly space and finally having a level floor on the stage.

I was 22 years old when I got out of the Navy and decided that a full time job and part time college would be the right mix.  I interviewed for a job at Litton Industries for a tech job, something I had done in the service.  The man interviewing me suggested that if possible, I ought to change that mix to full time college and part time work.  A very generous and understanding dad, agreed with that interviewer and allowed me to enroll at Pierce College.

Two things changed my life from that point on.  One was to be accepted by Phi Delta Psi and the life long friends and brothers that I gained.  The other was the solid counseling that interviewer gave me.  Oh yeah, his name is Evan Maas and he was the Dean of Men Students at Pierce College.  If you're out there Evan, Thank You.  And Thank You to all my Phi Delt brothers.”
