THANK YOU LETTER TO OUR BROTHERHOOD

(click on letter to enlarge)
Generally, I don't publish the thank you cards received by The Maple Leaf Society for our scholarships. But, I thought you might enjoy reading this note from a Moorpark College student, Darcy Estrella. The scholarship to Ms. Estrella was made by the Moorpark College Foundation through Dr. Francis Bianchino.

TED QUILLIN HON. BROTHER OF PHI DELTA PSI

Ted Quillin - Disk Jockey - Photo in the Archives of The Museum of the San Fernando Valley - 2008 - Gift of Gerald Fecht (click on picture to enlarge)

Hired to be a guest-speaker for a Phi Delta Psi "smoker", Ted Quillin became friends with Brothers Jerry Cipperly and Craig Pinkard. He was initiated as an Honorary Brother and took the honor very seriously. Ted is to this day beloved by the alumni of the Fraternity.
This photo was taken at Los Angeles Valley College. Phi Delts, who held the majority vote on the Student Council brought Ted to perform on campus. We also secured an on-campus concert by Louis Armstrong and Velma Middleton.
Ted still does a gig now in then in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he lives.

PHI DELTA PSI SALUTES STANLEY CERVENY

Leoncavallo vintage postcard - Collection of The Museum of the San Fernando Valley - Gift of Gary Fredburg - 2007 (click on photo to enlarge)
Carte postale European postcard . turn of the 20th century.

Brother Gary Fredburg wrote on this postcard, " Jerry, Is this Stan Cerveny's dad? Fredburg."

Answer: Gary, Br. Cerveny is sensitive about his ancestor the great Leoncavallo. Stan is also touchy about never being able to duplicate his ancestor's awesome mustache. Ruggero Leoncavallo died in 1919. Br. Cerveny has tried his best to sing the grand aria from Pagliacci in the shower.
