Dean and Patty Brewster, the night they were pinned at the Beta Chapter house of Phi Delta Psi Fraternity at Pierce College. This photo was donated by Jerry Berns to the Archives of The Museum of the San Fernando Valley in October of 2010. (click on this image to enlarge)

TWO BETA CHAPTER GROUP PICTURES c 1963

These two group photographs of Beta Chapter Brothers were donated to the Archives of The Museum of the San Fernando Valley in October of 2010 by Br. Jerry Berns.

Beta Chapter Brothers at Los Angeles Pierce College. The man obscured behind Br. Bill Eislaben is unknown. Br. Dick Mlack notes that he sent the same photos to me (Jerry Fecht) "a long time ago". The photos must have been distributed to the whole chapter. These images were among the collection donated to The Museum from Jerry Berns.

The Museum is getting very close to acquiring a headquarters / work space, and when we get this area you'll be invited to drop in and work on the Phi Delta Psi Archives. In the meanwhile, how about identifying these guys for us. Left to right, top to bottom.

BETA CHAPTER TOGA PARTY

"Toga anyone, Ron Simmons, Bogdanoff and the babes......at the Bogdanoff, Simmons, Hall, Leclare, and Morton house in Northridge...1967-68ish?
We rented this fantastic piece of property after Ray Ross moved out as I recall.........what a great house for us crazy students to live.....Valley State boys then......"
Ron Simmons sent this message with John Bogdanoff's photograph.
Ron Simmons writes:
It shows John Bogdenoff and myself with our dates dressed in Togas in 1966.  John, Tim Hall, Frank Morten and I were room mates on Nordhoff across from San Fernando Valley State College (Now called California State University at Northridge). Bro Ron Simmons

ALPHA BROTHERS AND ONE TIME RIVALS.

2010    THE YEAR OF VALLEY ADVENTURES

On November 2, 1961 a cross Valley football game took place between a new U.S. Grant High School (now in Valley Village) and long established Van Nuys High School. The Museum of the San Fernando Valley just received this "Official Program - 10¢" from Tom Ny in Bakersfield, California. Tom was Van Nuys fullback number 33.
The fun part of this program is that on the Grant High School varsity was right tailback Paul Craig number 75. These two rough and tumble rivals were destined within two years to become lifelong friends. allies and Phi Delta Psi Fraternity Brothers, while playing together for the L.A. Valley Monarchs.

Gayle Weichlein, 1962 Homecoming Queen for Los Angeles Valley College

Tom Ny, who played on the 1963 L.A. Valley College in the school's Homecoming Game against the Bakersfield Renegades, now lives and has an equipment rental business in Bakersfield. Tom's one time rival from Grant High School, was a part of this Valley College football game.
Paul Craig, who now lives in Bend, Oregon, was a letterman for Valley College. He was an "all league" selection.

THETA RHO SORORITY c. 1963

These photographs were published today on the blog of The Museum of the San Fernando Valley.

One of the most popular sororities at Los Angeles Valley College in the 1960s was the Theta Rho Theta.
These photographs were taken from images still in Roz Stern's scrapbook. The photographs were glued onto the book, and removal for scanning endangered the images.
These color snapshots were taken on February 17th, 1963 at the Phi Delta Psi Fraternity house on Victory Boulevard. An all-Greek festival was taking place. "All Valley College Greeks participated with games, fun and laughs."

"Poor Kirby gets wet at the Phi Delt booth"  Evidently, the Phi Delta Psi brothers had constructed a dunking stand. Kirby and a friend Vito Mazzarino had been in the US Navy together and had just started Valley College.

Br. DON GEORGE

This snapshot of Br. Don George was likely taken at Jerry Berns' around 1985 or 86. At this time, Jerry had many outdoor bar-b-ques for the Fraternity.
