Br. Jerry Hillard was born on the 30th of September 1939 in the State of Iowa. He was the only son of a widowed mother, who raised Jerry in Van Nuys, California. Jerry was a graduate of Van Nuys High School.
Br. Hilliard was the 66th initiate of the Phi Delta Psi Fraternity and was a member of the Brotherhood before the creation of our Beta Chapter at Los Angeles Pierce College. Prior to pledging the Fraternity, Jerry worked for General Motors in its Van Nuys Chevrolet plant.
One of the strongest presidents of our Fraternity, Jerry worked tirelessly for the advancement of the Phi Delta Psi. He was honored in 1961 with the Fraternity's highest honor, the Richard J. Radcliffe Award. Jerry earned his Associate of Arts degree from Pierce College and attended a special YMCA college. He worked for the Y for several years before entering the clothing business. He died of a heart attack during a rest break in downtown Los Angeles.
